Medes islands
El petit arxipèlag de les Medes, situat a una milla escassa del port de L'Estartit, té 21,50 ha de superfície i és format per 7 illes i illots de constitució calcària. Els seus fons marins són un indret d'extraordinari valor biològic i ecològic per la gran varietat d'ambients i espècies que s'hi troben, i atreu cada any una munió de submarinistes que no es volen perdre l'experiència de capbussar-se a les seves aigües.
L'illa principal, la Meda Gran , fou habitada intermitentment fins al 1932, i avui en dia és refugi d'una excepcional colònia d'aus marines, molt interessant des del punt de vista ornitològic, tot i que el valor principal de les Medes es troba en el medi marí.
El 1990 es va aprovar la Llei de protecció (vegeu l'apartat corresponent) que ha convertit les illes Medes en l'àrea marina protegida més gran de Catalunya i una de les més importants de la Mediterrània.
Tots els hàbitats de la Mediterrània hi són representats.

The Baix Ter wethlands
The coastal band fromL'Estartit's south contains almost all the proper environments of the Catalan littoral: wide beaches of sand that dies with coastal dunes and lagoons with hurdle and marshes filled with big extensions of salicornia. From the year 99 there were carried out actions of restoration of these spaces across 2 life projects in order to try to restore and to arrange the public use of these so sensitive zones.
The Montgrí
The clump is a definite well unit of relief that raises between the alluvial plains of the Alt and the Baix Empordà with the singularity of constituting a calcareous island placed in the middle of an extensive zone coastal, and differentiated from the mountainous neighboring systems. This singularity that awards an undoubted interest, with the natural values that the space presents, motivated his incorporation in the natural interest spaces map, inside which it possesses nowadays a surface of 4.763 Ha.
The Montgrí appears as a not transformed and exceptional, made space that constitutes undoubtedly an element revalorizador of this space, into the transformed coast of the Costa Brava.
